Delinquent Theatre

Founded in 2008, Delinquent Theatre is based on the unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations (commonly known as Vancouver). We are an independent theatre company that creates, develops, and produces new Canadian plays. Our work explores the figure of the Delinquent as the resilient other – telling narratives of survival, ingenuity, and subversive action in the face of a hostile status quo.
We strive to create working spaces that challenge and re-examine traditional hierarchies in order to allow artists to grow and thrive. We ask ourselves and our collaborators to imagine new ways of working instead of re-creating the systems we know, in order to respond to the needs of each production’s ensemble, and to push our work forward into new and uncharted territory. The company is run by Christine Quintana and Laura McLean.

The Seventh Fire
The Seventh Fire is an immersive audio performance by Lisa Cooke Ravensbergen that sources traditional, oral Anishinaabe stories and societal roles as a way to evoke ceremony in the everyday. The Seventh Fire takes place in the present, past, and future, and above and below the earth, as sisters Daanis and Nimise, and grandmother Nokomis reach through time and space to be together.
Using Lobe Studio’s unique and powerful 4D Sound System, The Seventh Fire is an immersive and transportive audio experience that uses sound as a portal to the worlds of ancestors, spirit, and earth. Through these portals, we hope to offer participants a way to connect with the Medicine that lives within all of us, as we co-dream a Future we all need.
Created by Lisa Cooke Ravensbergen, in collaboration with Mishelle Cuttler (Sound Designer), Debbie Courchene (Associate Sound Designer and Technical Director), Laura McLean (Collaborating Dramaturg), and Christine Quintana (Collaborating Dramaturg), with vocal performances by Margo Kane, Tasha Faye Evans, and Lisa C. Ravensbergen and additional vocals by Renae Morriseau and Kaitlyn Yott.
