Edo is a composer and immersive sound producer with a background in classical piano, live performance, and film scoring. His work with 4DSOUND and the Spatial Sound Institute, The Mind, Body, and Inner-Ear, involves designing and composing acoustic environments for augmenting cognitive behavioral and somatic therapy modalities. He is also developing methods for the sonification of climate change data with a new project, Earth Cry, which recently debuted at CTM Festival in Berlin.

Edo has helped to cultivate cultural growth in Vancouver’s music scene for over 15 years having been the former acting director of Unfamiliar Records and launching the careers of a handful of now internationally renowned artists. With Johannes Winkler he is one half of the prolific film scoring team -Transatlantic Film Orchestra, and spent over a decade playing and touring with the band Brasstronaut.

Edo strives to push the boundaries of connectivity between music & sound creation, performance, and participatory immersive experiences. He hopes to use Lobe and the 4D system as a groundbreaking tool for people to psychologically engage with themselves in transformative ways.

Deep Channel

Deep Channel is a continuation of Edo’s work ‘The Mind, Body & Inner Ear’ which he began during his residency at Spatial Sound Institute in 2018. His work combines immersive sound meditation and physical therapy methods as a new approach for addressing mental health and healing trauma.

Using the 4DSOUND system he created compositions consisting of shifting frequencies with recurring, drifting, tonal intervals to pair with physical body positions that allow participants to become more receptive to certain cognitive behaviour therapy practices. His research continued in Canada, collaborating with psychologists and neurologists to gather qualitative and quantitative evidence about the effects of spatial sound on the brain.
