Therapeutic Practices

Gibb’s spatial sound piece weaves together stories from her own journey of reconciliation and healing, with a ceremonial connection to sounds and vibrations of nature and an invitation for consenting audience members to join in movement and release as they connect to common ground in their own stories.

“This project offers audiences an opportunity for a safe place to hear real failure stories and to reflect on their own experiences - then using sound vibration and movement to find those places in the body where this anxiety, stress and tension is stored and offer it to the land.”

Trained as a journalist, Maia Gibb has worked in print media and radio. Early on in 30 year career, she cast a spell asking for opportunities to get close and personal with the Fuckery at work in our institutions and systems. She has since taken many contracts across many sectors: education, health care, social services, arts/culture - where she has seen many common pain points. These observations form the basis of the stories she has created. When smart, well-meaning people bring their best intentions to make change at work - and meet frustration and failure - she is here to say, "It's not you, it's them... Well, it is a bit you - but not all you."
