As with all drums, the taiko resonates deeply with our respective ancestors. During their 4 week residency at LOBE, Kage created spatialized music, drawing from archives of taiko recordings they have made over the years and added inspirational works featuring collaborators:
Noriko Kobayashi - shamisen & shigin
Elaine Stef - electric guitar
Anny Lin - oke daiko
John Nguyen - fue and oke daiko
Linda Uyehara Hoffman - vocals
The work explores the raw essence of taiko's acoustic qualities in combination with rave-inspired beats and stunning melodies. Mixed in 4DSOUND, and played through Lobe's world-class soundsystem, this experience will be a fully immersive listening journey where the audience is invited to lie back and listen or get up and dance!
Listening sessions will be at 3:00pm and 4:00pm sharp with doors open at 2:00pm.
Please arrive on time! :)
