Danish/Iranian cellist, improviser and composer cello meet electronic manipulation, creating soundscapes in constant transformation
In her solo project rosyán, the Danish/Iranian cellist, improviser and composer Rosanna Lorenzen explores the many layers of her instrument. With the cello as her central voice and improvisation as her inner compass, she explores its possibilities with a playful and open approach, where the wood, strings and acoustic resonance of the cello meet electronic manipulation, creating unpredictable soundscapes in constant transformation.
In rosyán’s sonic universe, you will meet atmospheric textures, moving from delicate and fragile passages and more raw and massive textures, rhythmic patterns and noise dissolving into silence. Voice and field recordings are woven into the whole in glimpses, expanding the narrative of the sound, while she continuously balances between free improvisation and composed elements. rosyán invites you into the space of the moment, pushing boundaries and challenging our expectations.
Rosanna Lorenzen works and collaborates across genres with both other musicians and visual artists, in Denmark as well as internationally. She has performed in a wide range of settings, from industrial spaces, churches and cisterns to venues and festivals, including Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Borealis Festival, Roskilde Festival, Copenhagen Cathedral, Brønshøj Water Tower and DR Koncerthuset.
