Polyphonic Garden

Spatial Sound Experience

Suite 1 of The Polyphonic Garden was created using field recordings and Plantwave technology, which converts electrical data from plants and fungi into midi, Uno, Arutria and Micrologue synths. The recordings have been collected on the beautiful West coast of Turtle Island. This suite is intended to be a source of reflection, respice and rejuvenation. Reflecting on our relationships and connection with ourselves, each other and the more than human world. Rejuvenating a sense of wonder for the natural world and how we might move into right relations with the lands, waters and sky that nurture us.

Artist Bio:

Artist in Residence June 2021

Ruby Singh was born in the Crow's Nest Pass and now calls the lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Selilwitulh Nations home (Vancouver BC). Singh's creativity crosses the boundaries of music, poetry, visual art, photography and film. His expressions engage with mythos, memory, identity, justice and fantasy; where the surreal can shatter the boundaries of the real. As a composer and sound designer he has worked with theatre and dance companies across Canada, as well as creating numerous scores for the National Film Board and other independent films. Singh's personal and collaborative works have been presented across Turtle Island, India, Germany and the UK.

Alongside his work as an artist, Singh is a long time consultant, facilitator and educator working within the liberatory practice of creativity. This work has been shared in universities, colleges, youth prisons and communities across Turtle Island, India and the UK. for more info check out www.rupsidhu.com
