This is a series of sound-centric courses led by some of the most experienced engineers and artists in the industry. We'll explore a wide range of topics surrounding sound, with a special focus on surround sound.. all within Lobe's unique Ableton powered 4DSOUND immersive environment.
Explore the MaxForLive side of 4DSound! This workshop will introduce participants to the 4DSound MaxForLive workflow and how the MaxMSP environment is used to create audio and data devices for Ableton Live. Beyond covering the basics of Max programming, participants will learn some of the tricks for creating or hacking MaxForLive instruments, effects, MIDI processors as well as ways to turn Ableton Live into a generative system.
Participants are encouraged to bring stems & samples that might be fun to spatialize..

Christopher SW Anderson is a PhD candidate in the Digital Arts and Humanities stream of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies program and a research assistant in the Sonic Production Intelligence Research and Applications Lab (SPIRAL) at the University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus. Chris’s research explores generative sound and music systems in relation to concepts such as music production nostalgia, musical hauntology, and their intersections with ludomusicology. He is also a multi-disciplinary music artist and performer, investigating alternative approaches to compositional and performance models utilizing various generative based audio systems. He has recently published research at the 2024 AES 6th International Conference on Audio for Games in Tokyo and has performed some of his research creation work at the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC2022) Limerick Ireland.
