Sounds For a Room

Sounds For a Room is performance piece written exclusively for the Lobe Studio 4DSOUND system.

Having previously experimented with crude speaker set-ups to explore possibilities in spatial panning and surround sound, Sean was eager to use the 4D system to create drifting textures that travel the room. With a blend of organic and synthesized sounds, the goal of the piece is to create an environment that could be transportive for the listener in almost total darkness. From warm sub-frequencies to dizzying arpeggios, the performance takes an exploration into the possibilities of spatial sound design for an experience as unique as the room itself.

Sean Evans is a Composer and Sound Design Artist based out of Vancouver, B.C. While he loves to make all types of music, his current practice finds him working in long-form ambient and drone pieces.

Sean is always looking for that trance-like state right before you’re about to doze off, and see how long he can ride that out through texture and repetition. Having released music on Canadian labels Deep Sea Mining Syndicate and Hotham Sound, his latest release ‘Movements’ is currently in stores and online.

When not working on music, you can generally find Sean in a record store or hanging out with his wife, Multi-media Artist Klee Larsen-Crawford.
