Da Yun Stella Song

Artist & Lobe Artist Residency Technician

Da Yun Stella Song is a Seoul-born, Vancouver-based performer, musician, composer, and performing artist. Specializing in cross-cultural and crossover music, she combines traditional Korean music with influences from around the world.

Stella seeks to challenge common stereotypes of traditional music being ‘outdated’ or ‘dull’, and this can be clearly distinguished in her interdisciplinary art practices.

Her primary focus is on the Haegeum, a two-string Korean fiddle, and the Ajaeng, an eight-string bowed instrument. She also demonstrates a keen interest in traditional Korean percussive instruments and the performing arts closely associated with them.

Since 2021, Stella has been a part of the Lobe Community, initially beginning as an intern, and later completing a Technician Apprenticeship. She now serves as one of the sound technicians at Lobe, contributing to various activities within the organization.
