Artist Residencies

“I enjoyed every aspect of my residency at Lobe! It was an amazing experience to have a full week dedicated to mixing a composition spatially. It's been something that I've wanted to do for 10 years and am very grateful for the opportunity to make that dream come true. The sound system is absolutely incredible, allowing for a truly enveloping somatic experience. Though the main Omni-directional speakers give a great sense of space and movement, I found myself particularly drawn to the transducers in the floor and the way they resonate your body. My experience at Lobe has inspired many new ideas that I'd love to explore at the studio in the future.” - Evan D.

The whole process was highly accessible from day one, including the crash course on 4DSOUND, which set us up nicely for a successful week. 

The trajectory of the residency couldn't have been more streamlined, and we greatly appreciated all the well-considered acts of hospitality, including the complimentary notebook — very thoughtful! In many ways, our residency felt like a two-week spa reset, even though we were ultimately there to work. On that note, Lobe is the calmest working environment that one could ask for. “I greatly enjoyed and appreciated the freedom to do anything I wanted in the space, and the willingness of the team members to help me execute my vision. Having Alex help me and contribute his own ideas was extremely helpful and the feedback sessions I had with Hannah and Kate were also incredibly helpful. 

Being able to show Eric some of the piece near the end of the project also gave rise to some awesome ideas I was able to implement as well. This is all to say that the ongoing involvement and helpfulness of the entire Lobe team was probably my favourite aspect, although I truly enjoyed everything!!!” - Claine L.
