Young Dene is a selector, music producer and label owner/operator, and professional digital media artist based in Vancouver, BC. Music has formed a large part of Young Dene’s story - from dancing in the Dene drum dances at the old Band Hall in Tulít’a as a child in the early 1990s to dancefloors around the world, dance music has always been an ethereal force in Young Dene’s life.

Since attending Shambhala for the first time in 2008, YD has been actively promoting sound system culture in western and northern Canada, connecting communities of Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists to larger audiences as a consumer, a performing artist, and a talent buyer.

Today, YD is a five-time Bass Coast alumnus and the owner/operator of Low Pass Music, a new record label focused on fostering and elevating Indigenous and Canadian bass music internationally. Young Dene specializes in Footwork Jungle and Drum & Bass, but has been known to lay down sets in Dubstep, Garage, Breaks, Electro, Club and more. YD sets promise emotive, fun and energetic vibes to keep the dancefloor popping.
