Experiments in Live Spatialization: Jonas Olesen + Jean Brazeau
Wednesday October 25th
Doors at 7:30pm | Shows at 8pm and 8:30pm
Artist and sound archaeologist, Jonas Olesen is joining us from Denmark to open this event with a new improvised work for loudspeakers, tone-generators and physical objects. In this piece, loudspeakers produce inaudible tones, making an assortment of physical objects vibrate in unpredictable rhythms. The objects include dry rice, coins and reflective paper sheets. Arranged this way, the normal function of a loudspeaker is reversed – instead of reproducing sound, it produces sound itself.
Electroacoustic artist and curator, Jean Brazeau, returns to Lobe to follow Oleson’s performance with a live-mixed DJ set. The spatilaized output will carry on activating the studio's vibrotransdusive floor, as though the room itself were an instrument.
Ticket holders are welcome to come and go throughout the night.
