Mycoglossia, meaning ‘fungal tongues’ or ‘fungal languages’, is our exploration of the hidden worlds of fungi through poetry and sound. Based on the book of the same name, written by Fiona Glen and Nina Hanz, and improvised live (with bioelectric input from our resident mushroom cultures), we hope this takes you on a journey into the wonder and mystery of fungi.
Join us for an album listening session in Lobe’s 4D spatial sound system, ahead of the record’s release on In The Field Recordings. Fiona Glen will read the opening poem live, the album plays in full (about 50 minutes), and there is time for questions and conversation at the end.
We've scheduled two sessions, one at 6:00pm and one at 8:00pm. Each runs about 90 minutes. Seating is limited to 25 per session.
About the album
This forthcoming album brings relationships between humans and fungi to life through poetry and music, improvised live, with bioelectric input from three mushroom cultures. Forged through an organic, ‘mycelial’ style of collaboration, Mycoglossia takes listeners on a journey, aiming to bring us back changed, re-enchanted and reconnected.
At a time when ecological reconnection is urgently needed, Mycoglossia asks us to listen from radically different perspectives. Nurturing and confronting, mystical and humorous, it is a journey into a kingdom of life that is both wonderfully strange, and an inextricable part of who we are.
